Food Bazaar Supermarket

I was surprised not to find any Food Bazaar reviews on Yelp.  These are my favorite grocery stores in NYC (mostly Brooklyn I guess). You know that scene in Punch-Drunk Love where Adam Sandler's character is in the supermarket passing aisles of perfectly stacked canned goods to dreamy Jon Brion music?  That's Food Bazaar, except all the cans are Goya !! ...

Everything you need at a decent decent price.  Be sure to wear a coat for the meat and cheese section, you will be walking through a giant refrigerator!  Reliable produce, incredible international selection... I really like buying my groceries here!

Had a rare "WOW!!!" moment. In a classic case of "Don't judge a book by it's cover", Cynthia, Aji & I were totally awed when we stepped inside Food Bazaar at Roebling Market in Trenton.  From the outside, it looked like just another supermarket.  But inside... The fresh seafood counter was GIGANTIC, they had "minyak angin", ox tail, frozen banana leaves, etc. For the Latinos, I think many will find it's like being back in Mexico, Honduras, Brazil or wherever they came from. Teixera's breads, Chicken Marsala etc at the hot buffet. Wow! Do yourself a favor & go over to check it out. Imagine Wegmans with a Latin twist. Who knew that Trenton would be home to such an amazing Place.

i live in bed stuy. i used to do most of my grocery shopping in bushwick. this place is supermarket heaven. their sales are amazing with plenty of basic stuff on sale each week like detergent, mac & cheese, soda and usually ice cream. Aside from the sales, most of their prices are pretty reasonable. The meat there is always fresh, although sometimes they are sold out of basics like family packs of chicken legs. I'd rather an item sell out than sit around. the vegetables always look good and are reasonably priced. they have every single colour of apple ever invented and then some. they have an amazing international section where you can find everything from borsht base to sazon. they also carry a store brand called "bogopa" everything i've tried from their own brand is pretty good! i've tried salt, mac & cheese and their ice pops which are always on sale for about $2 for a pack of 100. i didn't have air conditioning this summer and those 100 packs of ice pops saved me. awesometown, usa. one more plus- the BIGGEST beer selection i have ever seen in a supermarket. they have all sorts of international beers and random beers brewed in local US breweries. this is great.

picture if you will...

rainy friday night and i need to get supplies to go to a vegan dinner. since we had planned the event based on our belief that the weather would cooperate, we were just going to bring stuff to grill. remember it rained!
so i picked up a bunch of veggies and some tortillas for roasted veggie tacos and some beers.  hitachino nest beer from japan for $4 a liter (that's so cheap, a regular sized bottle can go for as much as $9 at some places). so i approve of this place. it's a great place, a bit chaotic, but well stocked and fresh.
